In the snow-covered landscape in and around Hinterzarten, you can practice hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or alpine skiing. Or you may watch the skaters who are pirouetting on the frozen natural lake which is located close to the residences. around Hinterzarten, twelve premium winter hiking trails with a length between three and twelve kilometers and a snowshoe trail are signposted in total. The scenic trails, which dispose of numerous benches and rest points, give you pure winter pleasure and magnificent views.

For downhill skiers, the “Skizentrum Thoma” (Thoma ski centre) just below the Windeck summit disposes of three ski lifts and five slopes with a length between 350 and 1400 meters. And, of course, the Feldberg is not far away: You can reach the biggest winter sports area North of the Alps at around 1500 metres above sea level by car within 30 minutes.
