From Hinterzarten, you may easily discover the highlights of the Black Forest: Titisee and Schluchsee, Feldberg and the “Wutachschlucht” (Wutach gorge), the convents in St. Peter and St. Märgen. By car or by train through the “Höllental” (Hell’s Valley), you can easily get to Freiburg, the capital of the Black Forest, which is located only 25 kilometers to the West down in the Rhine Valley. Donaueschingen, the residential town of the Fürstenberg princes is located some 40 kilometers to the East.
Are you looking forward to a hike in the snow with rosy cheeks, and splendid fresh air? In the snow-covered landscape in and around Hinterzarten, you can practice hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or alpine skiing. Or you watch the skaters pirouetting on the frozen natural lake which is located close to the residences.
Around Hinterzarten, breathtaking views are waiting for you in a diversified hiking area. From the Bergfried residences, you can start your hike to the highest mountains of the Black Forest. But you do not need to climb a mountain in order to enjoy the numerous wonderful scenic spots in our idyllic high valley. For example, you may walk to the stunning Titisee which is located only at about 4 kilometers from Hinterzarten.
In the Altental, at around 900 meters above sea level, between Hinterzarten and Titisee, the “Golfclub Hochschwarzwald” (Black Forest Golf Club) welcomes you. In addition, you can try 40 more golf courses in the Black Forest and in the neighbouring Alsatia. From Bergfried’s residences, many routes lead to golfer’s paradise. If you book your favourite residence for three or seven nights, you have already come much closer to heaven.
